Another Apocalyptic Smorgasbord For the Media to Feast Upon is Friday 11-11-11

11-11-11 or November 11^th, 2011 walked across my mind today in church. Of course 11-11-11 provides another apocalyptic smorgasbord for the media to feast upon, however what is really behind this day? Along with thinking about 11-11-11, comes the apocalyptic predictions, doomsday myths and of course the media onslaught surrounding it all. With the news in a quiet zone around 11-11-11, one can only imagine what they will hype up for this upcoming Friday.

Refer to 11-11-11 as you will, one thing is for sure, this date in November holds more than a mystical punch. Let’s start off with who is capitalizing on the fear in people that 11-11-11 could be a bad omen.

11-11-11 the end is now! Ummm wait for it… Wait for it… Guess not. Well according to director Darren Lynn Bousman, an entire movie can be centered on the idea that November 11^th, 2011 is not the greatest of days. On the film’s website, the trailer begins with this quote:

11-11-11 movie, what happens when the 11th gate opens?

“On the 11^th day of the 11^th month of the 11^th year, a gateway will open and with it comes beings unlike mortal eyes have seen. And on this day innocent blood will spill. And from this sacrifice the serpent will rise.”

Now of course the serpent is referring to biblical terms, aka Satan. Believers of evil on 11-11-11 also can go this route, 1+1+1+1+1+1= 6. Unfortunately for poor 6 it has been deemed the devil’s number with 666. However the thing is 11 has many more good qualities over the year than bad, but why not try to make a buck or two off of the media hype right?

But I don’t buy any of the horror filled things, although it seems like a good movie, life is what you make of it. Despite the full moon being present on 11-11-11, it typically occurs on 11-10-11, therefore not really happening on Friday. So here is my spin on 11-11-11.

Make a wish! I remember from the time I was a little girl to when I was at my high school boyfriend’s house and his mother would pick out 11:11 or 1:11 on the clock, telling me to make a wish. Now that I am older it’s ironic that I came across a saying that I rely on when things get rough and I feel like I am out of options.

Although I am not overly religious, 11-11-11 makes me think of the Hebrews 11:1. “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Now that’s November 1^st, ironically the passage for 11:11 is this, “ And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise.”

All of the passages in between the two talk about the different ways faith made itself known in the hearts of man. Maybe 11-11-11 should be viewed as the day where we remember why we have hope, courage and a piece of mind to do great things in this world. Rather than you know, the destruction, devastation and death outlook that some are taking on.

In religious standings, November 11, 2011 is not even the beginning of advent, rather Advent falls upon November 28^th because it is the Sunday closest to November 30^th. In fact this month of November and 11-11-11 is to prepare for Advent and re-energize after this most recent Ascension that was highly publicized in metaphysical and astrological news. Religious individuals believe that Ascension is the time that we can put our wishes and heart’s deepest desires up into heaven for the good lord to grant. Hey it’s more positive than the 11^th gate opening and Hell breaking loose right?

Another cool comparison was made by Rik Clay (1982-2008) that by moving in the Age of Aquarius we are moving into the 11^th astrological sign. Also by taking 11-11-11 and multiplying it in this way:

1111×1111=1234321 and this represents a pyramid of sorts. But this is stretching it if you ask me Mr. Clay…

Some other unique things about 11-11-11 is that the twin towers appeared like 11 when standing next to each other and New York was the 11^th state admitted to the Union!

11-11-11 can also be turned into 33. 33 divided by 11 equals 3 or the sign of the trinity. When combining what is said in the bible, about three men stopping by to see Jesus. It seems as though 11-11-11 may be a time of knowledge and even reminds this writer of the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge. Perhaps the human race will be enlightened upon this day, and the destruction will be to the ideals that have been destroying this planet over the last several years.

Sorry all, I refuse to believe any sort of apocalyptic predictions because I honestly believe that the Mayans said “The end of the world, as we know it” because we are in for a rude awakening, not a date with an asteroid.

Veterans Day falls on 11-11-11

November 11^th, or 11-11-11 is home to Veteran’s Day. Every year on November 11^th at 11:00 AM a ceremony begins at Arlington National Ceremony where a wreath is laid upon the Tomb of the Unknowns. Following the ceremony is a glorious parade of colors by veterans’ organizations and remarks from various dignitaries. God bless our military!

You are free to believe what you will. However the media is going to hype up the negative around 11-11-11 rather than the positive. It sells. Can I blame them? Not necessarily, however I do expect you readers to do your diligent duty and research the date of 11-11-11 for positive outcomes in the same way you search for the not so nice prophecies.

Hey I mean even gamblers consider 11 their lucky number when rolling the dice. And yes I know it is also known as snake eyes, however you are just fishing for stuff now.

What will I be doing on Friday, November 11^th, 2011? Recently I joined a group who will be documenting “One Day on Earth”. 11-11-11 is a day where people film their experiences throughout in order to document what life is like across the globe over a 24 hour period. Think about it, what are you going to be doing when the clock strikes 1:11 AM on 11-11-11? Or even 11:11 on 11-11-11? Hey you never know right? Whatever you do, wherever you may be, just make sure you live. Besides 11-11-11 still remains in my mind the best day for your heart to scream out it’s utmost wish.
