What are the Kardashians doing now
The Kardashians seem to getting into the media business Oprah-style, meaning that the world is their oyster. Aside from their clothing lines and television work, Page Six reports the reality TV family is close to landing a deal to with American Media Inc., — parent company to Star, The National Enquirer, Shape andPlayboy – to launch a magazine about the family.
What will it be called? ‘K?’
This should come as no surprise as the Kardashians seem to be gaining more and more press whether it is good press like Kim’s marriage and all the hype leading up to it, or bad press like Kim’s short-lived marriage or the reports about using child labor to manufacture some of their products.
According to Radar Online, several of the Kardashian family’s lifestyle and fashion brands, including ShoeDazzle and Kris Jenner ‘Kollection’ for QVC, are manufactured in sweatshops that employ underage and overworked laborers.
“The Kardashians are in bed with some pretty bad people,” Charles Kernaghan, the executive director of the Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights, tells Star. “Not only are celebrities like the Kardashians taking advantage of these workers, they are holding hands with a government that spits on democracy and women’s rights.”
Kris Jenner corroborated the rep’s claim in a statement for TMZ, saying: “As far as I know the factories that are used to manufacture the Kardashian clothing and shoes have nothing terrible going on at all and the factories are very well policed and meet factory standards.”
These products reportedly have nothing to do with their products sold at Sears.
The beauty of having their own magazine will be the power to spin their own stories to counteract any bad press. The magazine may be nothing more than an extension of their blogs or predictably what fans have come to expect from their reality show, which, likely will go on for many more years to come.
Kim recently told The Hollywood Reporter that “These shows could go on for years.”
Apparently some families have never-ending drama in which others will inevitably find entertainment. I say good job Kardashians for significantly contributing to the reality show genre, whether you are a fan or not.
