Tim Tebow is giving Denver Bronco fans plenty to cheer about as he has done nothing but earn his right to play at mile high stadium. Yesterdays 29-24 loss to the Chargers may be a good thing, considering it was a divisional loss. Even though AFC West rival, the San Diego Chargers, left Denver with a win, Tim Tebow and the Broncos are celebrating another type of victory.
Tim Tebow ran for a TD and threw for another after replacing Kyle Orton in the second half while almost coming back from a 16-point fourth-quarter deficit. “It changes (the tempo) because he’s a fresh body,” cornerback Antoine Cason said about Tim Tebow’s performance. “He has a lot of energy. He goes out there and plays with energy, the crowd got behind him a little bit. They went out there and did some things that got them back into the game.”This may be just what the Broncos need to turn around a disappointing 1-4 start going into their bye week. “Tim Tebow sparked the team today. (But) we haven’t had a chance to watch the tape, we haven’t had a chance to watch the film, we haven’t had a chance to visit as a staff,” Fox said. “So, I think at this point — we have a bye week — we do need to improve offensively, and it will all be up for discussion.”
Kyle Orton is 6-21 in his last 27 starts and is tied for first among active QB’s with seven turnovers this season so far. He aslo has the highest INT percentage with a 4.5 rating.
Denver Broncos coach John Fox is expected to officially name Tim Tebow as the team’s starting quarterback Tuesday, The Denver Post reported “With Orton enduring a tough start to the season, Fox was expected to finally reward Tebow with the starting role he has craved since he was chosen by Denver in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.” (Fox Sports) “It’s his decision,” Orton said of his coach when asked about his playing future.
“I have no idea,” Tebow said. “Thankfully, I don’t have to make those decisions. Other people do that and I just go play football.” Yeah, but you can see the passion, energy and excitement in his eyes when he gets on the field and even as he paces on the sideline.
Get ready folks as we may have just seen Orton play his way out of a starting job and Tebow play his way into one.
