Newt Gingrich “To Save America”

To save America or not to save America?  When it comes to saving America the man with the plan, Newt Gingrich announced yesterday, May 11th that he would be entering into the Republican presidential field.  A former House speaker, Newt Gingrich has the money, experience and name recognition to run for President, as well as a video introducing him as a promise of serenity and hope. The media hounds were hot on his trail once the announcement was out.

While Newt Gingrich refers to himself as a historian, the NY Times refers to him as a demagogue, defined by as a leader who obtains power by means of impassioned appeals to the emotions and prejudices of the populace.  Unfortunately Newt Gingrich earned his NY Times title by most of the things he wrote in his 2010 book, “To Save America”.  Calling the Democrats “left-wing radicals” Newt Gingrich accuses them of producing “the greatest political corruption ever seen in modern America.” The NY Times said it perfectly, “Donald Trump, fiddling with birth certificates, is an amateur compared with Mr. Gingrich at sliming the Obama administration — as well as Democrats, Muslims, blacks and gay men and lesbians.” talks about Newt Gingrich “the loon” and his 1994 movement for Republicans to seize control of the US House of Representatives, followed by his 1995 election as the Speaker of the House.  Soon he would be exposed for an affair, his marriage would collapse and his banishment to political exile began, but he’s coming back for more.

Dan Balz a writer for the Washington Post summed up Newt Gingrich well, “There are many questions he will confront. Gingrich is an idea-spewing machine, unlike anyone else in the Republican Party. But does America want a one-man think tank, particularly one with his history, as its president?”

Not all is bad when one looks at the media trail of Newt Gingrich.  Praised for his ideas and his ability to fundraise, Newt Gingrich not only has a story of personal redemption, moreover he is the best pick among the Republican candidates. Bottom line, Newt Gingrich is known.

“Everybody thinks they know who Newt is, and a significant portion don’t think they like him, and he’s going to have to convince them,” said Rich Galen, a GOP strategist and former Gingrich adviser.
