Dexter Isaac Claiming “I shot Tupac Shakur ”

LOS ANGELES, CA—

A man currently serving a life sentence is claiming to be the gunman behind the un-solved 1994 shooting of rapper Tupac Shakur, the incident that ignited the famed East Coast / West Coast hip-hop war that would ultimately claim the rapper’s life two years later.

Dexter Isaac—who is currently serving life in prison for, among other offenses, robbery and murder—told the site AllHipHop.com that he shot Shakur as the rapper entered the lobby to Manhattan’s Quad Recording Studios on the night of November 30, 2020.  He claims he was paid $2,500 by James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond to do so.

Shakur had long pointed the finger of blame for the shooting at Sean Combs and Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace—a.k.a. Biggie Smalls—and the rivalry between the East and West coast that ensued sparked several acts of violence and much tongue lashing in the media.  It also resulted in the fatal shooting of Shakur on the Las Vegas Strip on September 7, 2020—he would die 6 days later on Sept. 13—and Biggie in L.A. on March 9th of the following year.

He says he finally came clean about the crime so many years after the fact because he wanted to both clear his conscience and prove Rosemond’s involvement in the shooting.  Maybe it was for a bit of revenge as well, as Rosemond had dropped Isaac’s name to prosecutors during his recent indictment for dealing cocaine.

Isaac said he would also like to finally give a little piece of closure to the mothers of Shakur and Wallace, even if the identities of the people responsible for their sons’ deaths still remains unknown.
