Anthony Weiner Sexting Scandal, Should He Resign?
Have you ever been involved in sexting? Congressman Anthony Weiner has and may have to resign from his position because of it. Rumors have been circulating around Anthony Weiner and his alleged involvement with sexting for years now.
Why all of a sudden? Well it was not sexting that really did Anthony Weiner in. In fact it was Twitter, the social network giant that has been responsible for alerting the world of a few major events just in 2011 alone. If a social network like Twitter can save lives of tsunami/earthquake victims in Japan or overthrow the Egyptian regime, did Anthony Weiner really think he was smarter than the social networks? Advice: If you are in the media eye already, do not go on a social networking site and tweet a picture of your genital in the open, for the entire world to see.
The sexting scandal of Anthony Weiner is a disturbing case, as his name has been in and out of the political rumor mill over years causing him to even go to former president Bill Clinton, discuss how Weiner believed he had been hacked and rumors setting upon his name like wild fire; false.
Anthony Weiner is still standing firm on rejecting any ideas of resignation despite losing almost all support in Congress. Married last July to Huma Abedin, aide to Secretary of State and former First Lady Hilary Clinton, Anthony Weiner greatest challenge comes with facing his honorary mother in law according to the Huffington Post.
Last Wednesday Abedin announced she was pregnant with Anthony Weiner’s first child. Abedin has been traveling with Secretary of State, Clinton, since June 8th, she returned home today as pressure mounts on her husband to resign from his position in Congress. During her time away Abedin’s husband has taken a short leave of absence from Congress, sources such as CNN, Washington Post, New York Daily News and The New York Times believe Weiner wishes to speak with his wife, in person, before finalizing his decision on whether he shall remain in office as Congressman or not. As Lucille Ball’s husband Ricky Ricardo would say ‘Weeny, you have some splaining to do!’
What makes it so bad though? Ethically and morally it is wrong, however where does it say in the Constitution or Declaration of Independence, though shalt not sext! Anderson Cooper bought Bill Maher onto his new show on CNN AC360 recently and asked his opinion regarding Anthony Weiner and his resignation.
‘”Do you think he should resign?” Cooper asked.
“At this point, yes,” Maher said. “Not because I think he did anything so incredibly awful. Dick Cheney used to go out and shoot birds by the hundreds that were like in a cage. To me, that’s a lot more psychotic than anything Anthony Weiner ever did. But the point is, this is America. We have to live in reality.”
“But if you don’t think it’s so bad, what Weiner did, why do you think he should resign?” Cooper said.
“Because people won’t let it go,” Maher said. “Because you’re asking me about it. Because, until he resigns-this is how it works in America. When you do something unspeakable, you know, like be horny, you have to go away.”’ (AC360 6/15/2011 via Huffington Post)
According to President Barack Obama after his interview with Ann Curry this past Monday, shed some light on what he would do in Anthony Weiner’s shoes. “I can tell you that if it was me, I would resign.”
After President Barack Obama recently had to deal with Donald Trump and the birthers we know that he is not a fan of mundane and useless media coverage. Anthony Weiner is just another way for the media to make money and America to waste their time watching.
Sexting? No I cannot say I have ever done it, however I heard through The Gayle King Show that if you are too do it, make sure that you leave your head out of the shot, you know to insure that no one can associate the body with a face. But also make sure you are in an undisclosed location, not like the Congressional gym, that other people can point out if they examine the background of the sexting, I mean setting.
